| The Gymettes represent CPAG's competitive gymnastics team. Many of these young ladies find their passion for this sport right out of diapers in the CPAG Mini-Gym program and continue through Recreational Classes and Special Groups. The team competes in several competitions each year and belongs to both the USAG and USAIGC programs. Locally, the Gymettes belong to an ESGA (Eastern States Gymnastics Association) League that offers a high level of competition close to home. Practice Schedule Meet Schedule Directions A Deeper Understanding of Competitive Gymnastics at CPAG: USAG (USA Gymnastics) is the National Governing Body of the sport of gymnastics and features 10 levels of development for young gymnasts. Beginning in Level 4, gymnasts learn the importance of basic gymnastics skills that serve as the foundation to their career as a gymnast. Girls work their way through the levels, maturing both mentally and physically on this journey. USAIGC (United States Association of Independent Gymnastics Clubs) focuses its energies on developing gymnasts for college gymnastics. CPAG is a strong proponent of college gymnastics and structures its program to ensure that its gymnasts have the opportunity to compete on the collegiate level. Our team philosophy is for each gymnast to strive to be the best person and athlete she can be, to exceed her physical potential with disciplined, responsible work habits and self-motivation and to become a well-rounded adult with fond memories of her gymnastics career. Each team member is encouraged to continue gymnastics through high school and ideally into college. Team members are also encouraged to participate in other activities- and some accommodations can be made to practice schedules. We have junior politicians, musicians, actors, field hockey, tennis and lacrosse players, as well as track athletes on our team. Gymettes should also strive to be good students. Most of our athletes are on the honor roll every semester. |
